UAE Business: WGS unveils winners of UK green energy start-up contest – Gulf Digital News

The winners of a UK government competition to drive growth in the renewable energy start-up sector have been revealed at the Global Energy Forum, part of the World Government Summit (WGS2022) in Dubai.

The Green Builders of Tomorrow, organised by the UK Department for International Trade (DIT) in partnership with Octopus Group, pitched for investments with ideas to accelerate the path to Net-Zero and a sustainable world.

Gus Wiseman, Deputy Director of Investment Opportunities & Propositions at DIT, introduced the competition and its objectives, while Chris Hulatt, co-founder of the Octopus Group, reinforced the group’s mission to invest in people and ideas which change the world for the better.

Jo Parker-Swift, CEO of Solivus – one of the startups participating in the competition, said: “We are on a mission to make it as easy as possible for mega-buildings and home owners to decarbonise by installing our innovative thin-film solar solutions.

“We are pioneering truly sustainable products for a fast-evolving market. We want to be pivotal in reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources. We help generate more energy in smaller pace.”
