UAE to restart accepting Filipino household service workers

The UAE will resume accepting Filipino household service workers (HSWs) next month after signing a labor agreement with the Philippines giving greater protection to home-based employees. The agreement involves recruiting Filipino domestic workers via official entities from April 2021, which “will begin a new phase of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries in the recruitment of domestic workers,” Saif Al-Suwaidi, Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry for Human Resources Affairs said in a statement released by state news agency WAM.The agreement will control and regulate the recruitment process, maintain the rights of all involved parties, and reduce the overall costs of this process, Al-Suwaidi added.Comments Read NextOctober 16, 2020Philippines: Red Cross stops free COVID-19 tests for arriving OFWsJune 28, 2020OFW Repatriation Funds Run Low; Workers Remain Stranded AbroadJune 7, 2020Bahrain: More OFWs Return Home to the PhilippinesJune 3, 2020Coronavirus: Over 1 Million OFWs Set to Lose JobsMay 27, 2020Philippines: Duterte Orders Govt Units to Accept Returning OFWsMay 25, 2020Philippines: Duterte Answers Call of OFWs Begging to Go HomeApril 24, 2020Bahrain: Philippine Embassy Reopens Applications for Financial AidApril 20, 2020Bahrain: Philippine Embassy Suspends Application for Financial AssistanceMay 12, 2018Philippines and Kuwait sign deal on domestic workersApril 29, 2018Philippines' Duterte calls Kuwait
