Japan imports nearly a third of its crude oil in September from the UAE

Japan imported 20.173 million barrels of crude oil from the UAE in September 2020, according to data released by the Agency of Energy and Natural Resource in Tokyo.

The agency said that the figure represents 31.4 per cent of Japan's total crude imports by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Japan imported a total of 64.212 million barrels of crude oil from around the world in September, the agency noted.

Saudi Arabia was the largest source market for Japan's crude requirements in September. It supplied 25.721 million barrels, or 40.1 per cent of the total crude.

Another GCC country, Kuwait supplied Japan with 5.139 million barrels or 8 per cent of its total crude imports.

Arab oil accounted for 58.008 barrels or 90.6 per cent of Japan's petroleum needs in September.
