UAE investments in US bonds down 9.5% MoM in September

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE has decreased its investments in the US Treasury bonds by 9.5% month-on-month (MoM) to $33.1 billion in September, compared to $36.6 billion in August, according to the latest data by the US Department of the Treasury.

On an annual basis, the UAE has lowered its investments in the US debt instruments by 11.3% or $4.2 billion in September, compared to around $37.3 billion in the same month of 2019.

Globally, the UAE ranked 32nd among the holders of US Treasury bonds in September 2020.

At the Arab level, the UAE was placed in the third position among the holders of US debt instruments after Saudi Arabia with $131.2 billion and Kuwait with $46.6 billion.

It is noteworthy to mention that in August, the UAE raised its holdings of the US Treasury bonds to $36.6 billion from $29.5 billion in July.
