Empowerment of female pupils through mentorship programme: Bahrain

The National Bank of Bahrain ( NBB ) participated in the first 'Women in Technology Career Mentorship' Programme, hosted by University of Bahrain’s College of Information Technology and supported by the Women in Big Data (WiBD), a chapter of an internationally recognised entity based in the US. The programme, which aims to support female pupils wishing to pursue technology and engineering careers through mentorship opportunities, kicked off with a webinar in December 2021, featuring NBB Group Chief Human Resources & Sustainability Officer Dana Buheji as the keynote speaker. Through this programme, the bank aims to create a platform for female students to learn from influential and qualified industry professionals, ensuring future job readiness, it said in a statement. Buheji said: “NBB believes in supporting Bahrain’s youth and equipping them with the necessary tools to contribute towards the Kingdom’s economic objectives. We are especially committed to empowering females in data, as our employees from various disciplines participate as mentors and share their knowledge and expertise. Through this mentorship we are able to contribute to creating a nationwide ecosystem that nurtures talent and innovation.” Emphasising the importance of the programme, NBB IT Project Manager and WiBD board member Maryam AlMutawa said: “There
