Prince El Hassan lectures on multidimensional poverty, human dignity in University of Jordan

Ammon News - Prince El Hassan bin Talal delivered Tuesday a scientific lecture entitled "Multidimensional Poverty and Human Dignity" hosted by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Jordan (JU).

Prince El Hassan discussed, in the lecture that saw the participation of students and faculty members, "absolute truth-based knowledge" and accurate and factual data and information through a national knowledge database to promote intersectoral cooperation.

He noted the "importance" of promoting human dignity and empowerment by relying on the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) to identify poverty forms.

He discussed the legal empowerment of the low-income through access to justice, the rule of law, property rights, labour rights and the right to do business.

Prince El Hassan said the refugees and the displaced are "at the heart of the issue of poverty," urging leveraging their capabilities and competencies and making them part of the development process.

He added that dialogue, understanding, mutual respect, deep awareness of humanity, active citizenship, solidarity and networking at the global level are values and concepts that "must" be adhered to when talking about freedom and responsibility of expression.
