‘Stick to Islam teachings’; Sign pledge, teachers told – ARAB TIMES – KUWAIT NEWS – Arab Times Kuwait News

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 10: The Ministry of Education recently issued a circular to private schools requiring teachers to sign a pledge to learn and adhere to the teachings of Islam, traditions of the Kuwaiti Muslim community, and public order and morals, reports Al- Jarida daily. The ministry took this step to protect the State from those trying to impose extremist ideologies, as if Kuwait is an ignorant society that falls asleep and wakes up in immorality.

In this context, sources revealed that the Private Education General Department instructed private schools to oblige teachers to sign the pledge; in addition to conducting rehabilitation and training programs for them before they start working. The pledge states: “I enrolled in a qualifying training program before starting to work in the school. I reviewed the guidebook on the teachings of the Islamic religion, as well as the customs and traditions of the Kuwaiti Muslim community.”
