5 students to represent Oman at London Youth Science Forum

Muscat – The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation has announced the names of five winners who will represent Oman at the London International Youth Science Forum, from July 26 to August 9.

The announcement was made on Monday at Innovation Park Muscat. During the event, 34 candidates presented their projects in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in front of an evaluation panel. Out of the 34 candidates, five participants were been chosen by the ministry to represent Oman for the fifth time at this year’s forum.

The evaluation panel selected Ilaf Yahya al Kindi from Sultan Qaboos University with her project ‘Treating Oil Spills and Produced Water Using a Plant Derived Extracts and Powders’, Ibrahim Amur al Barwani from Military Technological College with his project ‘Rocket Propulsion – Breaking the Bounds of Gravity’, Hamed Saleh al Kalbnai from Sultan Qaboos University with his project ‘Smart and Integrated Mobile Application Service for Community Waste Handling Using Image Processing’, Nabras Hamdan al Shukaili from Sultan Qaboos University with her project ‘Producing highly efficient biodiesel from unused plant seeds and recycling all production derivatives’, and Abdullah
