EA steps up awareness in N Batinah, distributes over 2,500 eco-friendly products 

The Environment Authority (EA) distributed 2,560 eco-friendly products and conducted 40 environmental activities in North BatinahMuscat – The Environment Authority (EA) distributed 2,560 eco-friendly products and conducted 40 environmental activities in North Batinah in the first quarter of 2024. These efforts were part of a broader campaign to promote environmental awareness and conservation in governorates across the sultanate.

Nizar bin Salem al Araimi, Director of Environmental Management Department in North Batinah, emphasised the significance of these initiatives and said, “Our department is dedicated to enhancing environmental awareness and preserving Oman’s natural beauty through a range of educational and community engagement activities.”

In the first three months of the year, the department organised several awareness-raising activities, including lectures, exhibitions, outdoor campaigns and environmental forums. These events took place at Saham Administration Centre and the Environmental Centre in Suwaiq, drawing attention to the critical issues facing Oman’s ecosystems.

The eco-friendly products distributed included 740 cloth and paper bags and 1,820 containers as alternatives to plastic water bottles. These items were handed out during the launch of the Environmental Council project at Sohar University in February. The target audience for these products included educational institutions – schools and universities – as well as local community organisations.
