Empowering young Omanis through the Judges Academy

Muscat: The Oman Debate Centre has successfully concluded the third edition of the Judges Academy, which witnessed the participation of 30 individuals above the age of 18 from most of Oman’s governorates.

The Academy aims to meet the increasing demand for judges in both private and government sectors, resulting from the steady increase in the number of debaters in schools and universities.

Nasser Al Hanai, Oman Debate Centre CEO, said “The Centre is making great strides in achieving the goals laid out in Oman Vision 2040 in the sector of education and humanity. The Centre’s primary focus is on empowering young Omanis by equipping them with the latest information and techniques in debating, and certifying judges to participate in national and international events”.

The first and second editions of the Judges Academy were also a great success and contributed significantly to the debate community in Oman.

In cooperation with their partners at the Qatar Debate Centre, the Oman Debate Centre was able to graduate 100 qualified and registered judges from the two editions. As a result, the number of arbitrators affiliated with the Centre increased to approximately 150 across the governorates of Oman from Musandam to Dhofar.
