School students go bonkers with Qaranqasho

MUSCAT: Al Injaz International Private School, Muscat, celebrated the traditional festival of Qaranqasho with enthusiasm on March 25. This festivity, which falls in the middle of Ramadhan, is deeply rooted in Omani culture and symbolises a moment of joy and celebration, particularly for children, during the holy month.The school which was adorned with colourful decorations set the festive mood as the students were dressed in vibrant traditional attire, adding to the lively atmosphere.The celebration commenced with a brief introduction about the significance of Qaranqasho, educating the students about its cultural importance and how it embodies the spirit of community and sharing.One of the highlights of the event was the singing of traditional Qaranqasho song, which filled the air with festivity. Children, carrying bags, went around classrooms chanting the Qaranqasho song, reminiscent of the practice of going door-to-door to receive sweets and nuts, symbolising the halfway mark of Ramadhan.Photos by Dinesh Deckker
