Students’ English language skills to get boost with myON

Muscat – The Ministry of Education (MoE) and Renaissance, the creator of the myON digital reading platform, have launched a pilot project aimed at improving attitudes towards literacy in 12 primary schools across the sultanate.

The pilot programme – part of the MoE’s commitment to enhance digital English language learning across the sultanate – will run for five weeks, giving participating schools access to thousands of digital texts of myON to boost students’ reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

Improved attitudes towards reading in English and on digital platforms and greater use of technology-based learning to support English language acquisition are also key objectives of the initiative.

“We are delighted to be working on the myON pilot with the Renaissance team. We feel myON will help our students enhance their English competence and love of reading. We are so impressed with the engagement that has already been shown by our students, teachers and supervisors and feel this will lead to a successful first phase of our partnership,” commented Salim Mohammed al Kharousi, Director of Department of Human Sciences Curriculum Development, MoE.

With a wealth of innovative and engaging features, myON is unlike any other online reading platform in the way it supports foundational literacy
