Young Crafters programme launched to promote Omani traditional craftsMuscat – The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Scientific College of Design, launched the ‘Young Crafters Vocational Training Programme’ on Tuesday. The initiative aims to maintain and develop Omani traditional crafts by introducing 30 students from Muscat Governorate to modern technology in craft production.

The programme seeks to provide students with vocational and technical skills that will enable them to carry forward Omani cultural heritage and contribute to both local and global markets. It also aims to instil pride in national identity and foster a deeper interest in traditional crafts and industries. The training includes skills such as metal shaping, pottery, ceramics, artistic works, graphic design, and photography.

Ahmed al Sabhani, a senior educational researcher at the Department of Citizenship, Ministry of Education, stated, “The programme is organised in the form of interactive workshops, where students apply what they learn under the supervision of academic trainers from the Scientific College of Design.”

The programme is divided into two parts. The first focuses on graphic design using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, along with photography. Students are divided into two groups, alternating between workshops over two weeks.
