Government kindergartens to admit three-year-old children

Children from the age of three years old would be eligible for enrolment at government kindergartens starting from the year 2024, it was pointed out by Dr Ibrahim Saleh al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that this decision follows the implementation of an experiment during the year 2023 in three kindergartens, where children aged three years old were enrolled. This age inclusion will be extended to all government kindergartens. Speaking to Qatar TV recently, Dr al-Nuaimi said that the number of government schools during this academic year amounted to 214 schools. In addition, six evening centres were designated for adult education, including the specialised center "Qatar Technical School." The number of government kindergartens amount to 63, with a total of 163,601 students in government schools, and the school leaders (principals and deputies) amounting to 674 persons. The administrative staff included 9,909 employees, and the teaching staff (teachers and co-ordinators) amounted to 14,648.Further, he stressed that human development is one of the pillars of Qatar's Vision 2030, making education a top priority to provide a distinctive environment that encourages innovation and high-quality education.
