Qatar University scientists within world’s top 2% in academic citation



A study conducted by Stanford University in the US showed results of the top 2% of the world's most-cited scientists during 2020, and the top 2% of the world's most-cited scientists for career-long citation. In this study, the first list included 80 scientists from Qatar University and the second list included 39 scientists. A noticeable increase in the list of scientists from Qatar University is recorded in this year's study, with an increase of almost 20% in the first list, and an increase of almost 30% in the second list.

The top 2% list includes more than 100,000 among millions of researchers, selected by combining several metrics for a systematic ranking using the data that was extracted from Scopus until August 1, 2021. On this achievement, Prof Mariam al-Maadeed, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at Qatar University, commented: "Qatar University is proud of having such distinguished scientists within its campus. Having this number of scientists from Qatar University among this list proves that the University is achieving success in preparing highly-skilled personnel, producing high-quality research and seeking leadership in research and education. In addition to the continuous efforts of the University in establishing an innovative structure in the fields
