Qatar’s higher institutions offer 400 academic programmes – The Peninsula

Doha: As many as 34 higher institutions are operating in Qatar, offering over 400 academic programmes, said an official.

“The number of students in higher institutions has reached 40,572 in the current academic year, recording 13 percent increase, compared to the previous academic year,” said Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi.

Speaking in a Qatar TV programme recently, he said that 3,243 students are registered in the scholarship list of the Ministry who are pursuing their higher studies inside Qatar and abroad.

Speaking about University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), he said that this is first specialised university in Qatar for science and technology.

“UDST like Qatar University is providing educational output and high quality technical specialisations to the job market,” said Al Nuaimi.

He said that the university is specialised in the fields of health, technology and accountancy, among others. “About 3,000 students are enrolled in the UDST of different nationalities with a large number of Qatari students,” said Al Nuaimi.
