QU-HND resumes ‘Smart Start Campaign’ – The Peninsula

Doha: The Human Nutrition Department (HND) at the Qatar University College of Health Sciences (CHS), member of QU-Health, has resumed in-person engagement in primary school classrooms. The Smart Start Campaign is a nutrition education programme that promotes healthy eating and active lifestyle among school children in Qatar.

During this Fall semester, HND continued pursuing Smart Start objectives in educating children about healthy eating, nutrition and its effect on health.

Childhood obesity is a major growing health problem that can profoundly affect children’s physical health, social, and emotional well-being, and self-esteem.

HND senior students delivered a variety of interactive activities related to nutrition and healthy lifestyle to primary students at Etqan Academy School. Up to 10 classrooms were covered and more than 200 students participated in the programme with their teachers.
