SIF holds session for teachers



Science India Forum (SIF), under the patronage of the Indian embassy in Qatar, recently launched an educational series, 'Learn with the Leaders', as a part of the Teacher’s Empowerment Programme, which is being held on the fourth Saturday of every month.

The second session in this series was organised on the 'Design of Quality Education - MCQ'.

Internationally renowned pedagogists Dr Brijesh Pare and Chandan Singh Ghughtyal conducted the session for mathematics and science teachers.

Dr Pare is a professor and president of the Association of Chemistry Teachers (India). He explained Bloom’s Taxonomy and its application to achieve learning objectives in science subjects using the various levels of Create, Evaluate,

Analyse, Apply, Understand and Remember.

He went on to explain the three parts of the multiple-choice questions and how to design MCQs to achieve higher order thinking skills and critical thinking skills in students.

Ghughtyal is a senior faculty member in the department of mathematics at Doon School, Dehradun, India.

In his interactive session, he discussed how formative and summative assessment can be achieved through quality MCQs using various components such as a well-formed STEM, a clear, correct answer and various plausible distractors.
