Six higher education institutions receive approval – The Peninsula Qatar



Doha: As many as six institutions for higher education (university/college) received initial or final licensing approval from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.


“With these new institutions for higher education, the total number of higher institutions in the country will reach 32,” said Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs Dr. Khalid Al Ali in a statement.


He said that the new high institutions which received the approval are Lusail University, Oryx Universal College in cooperation with Liverpool John Moores University in Britain, City University College in cooperation with the Ulster University in Britain, Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Ghanim Maritime Academy in cooperation with Piri Reis University, Al-Rayyan International University College in cooperation with University of Derby in Britain.


The Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs also said that 17 new academic programmes such as artificial intelligence, management, marine sciences, and others have been licensed during academic year 2021-22 and this takes number of licensed programmes to 362.


Dr. Al Ali also said that new universities like Indian Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU has already received first batch of students in September 2021. On the other hand, College of the North Atlantic was transformed into a national university for science and
