UDST holds Career Fair, sees massive rise in student enrolment – The Peninsula

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has recorded three times the number of students enrolled in the institution over the last two years, Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of UDST, said yesterday.

The former College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) became Qatar’s first applied university earlier this year after an Amiri decision established UDST.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of UDST’s Career Fair, Dr. Al Naemi said the school’s mandate is to meet industry needs and ensure students are equipped with skills to cope with the labour market demands.

“We have noticed our number of students has tripled. Two years ago, we were almost 2000 students, today, we have almost 6,100 students -- and we have realigned most of our programmes. Our mandate is really to listen to the industry. What are the needs and the skills required because the skills are changing, and that is why we always look into our programmes, ensuring that we have incorporated these skills in our curriculum to serve the industry and to make it easier for students to get a job,” Dr. Al Naemi said.
