MBZUAI boosts UAE ambitions for global AI prominence

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) has demonstrated rapid growth and development in terms of faculty, student numbers, and academic influence in 2022, according to a state-of-the-university address delivered by President and University Professor Eric Xing. In his recent address to faculty and staff on the university’s campus, Professor Xing detailed the institution’s high-impact faculty and dramatic rise in academic publishing as key pillars of the university’s success. The university, which was unranked in 2021, moved into the top 25 globally in 2022 in its areas of specialization — AI, computer vision, machine learning, and natural language processing — according to Computer Science Ranking ( CSRanking.org ). MBZUAI faculty published more than 350 papers in high-impact conferences and journals in 2022, including 27 papers at NeurIPS. The MBZUAI faculty body also grew significantly in 2022, with the addition of 21 new members, and now stands at 49.
