UAE students beat global average in IB results

Three students from Gems achieved the maximum score of 45 - putting them in top-performing 1% across the world.





UAE students' International Baccalaureate (IB) results have surpassed the global average after they registered a pass rate of 93.77 per cent this year. Schools following the curriculum said this is one of the "best ever" results.

Despite the cancellation of exams due to Covid-19, students in the country passed with flying colours as they surpassed the global average of 32.8.

A total of 174,355 students around the world received their IB results on Monday. This includes 2,203 students in the UAE. The IB diploma is a school qualification accepted by leading universities worldwide and 50 schools in the UAE now offer the programme.

Due to Covid-19 situation, This year, pupils were assessed based on their coursework and internal assessments. "I would like to share my heartfelt congratulations with all 2020 Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme graduates for their efforts over the last two years," said Dr Siva Kumari, IB director-general.
