Art Station Launches Inaugural Residency Programme for US Citizens in Bahrain

The Art Station, a soon-to-open art space under the umbrella of Rashid Al Khalifa Art Foundation (RAK Art Foundation), has announced an open call for its inaugural residency programme for US artists, funded by a grant from the US Embassy in Manama.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in cultural exchange between the United States and Bahrain, emphasising bilateral relations and artistic cooperation.

This residency programme, commencing in March 2024, invites US citizens from diverse artistic and creative fields for a three-month stay in Bahrain, where they will collaborate with the local artistic community, conduct public workshops, and develop a final project that integrates Bahraini cultural elements.

The selected residents from writers, curators, artists, designers, architects, academics, and arts practitioners will also receive a grant for artwork production, and access to The Art Station’s state-of-the-art facilities, including 3D printers, a recording studio, a fashion studio, and a photography studio with a darkroom.

Steven C. Bondy, Ambassador of the US to Bahrain, expressed his delight in supporting The Art Station’s residency programme through the Public Affairs Small Grants Programme.

“This collaboration reinforces the enduring ties between the United States and the Kingdom and highlights our dedication to enhancing cultural exchange, international cooperation, and mutual understanding. We
