Manama Entrepreneurship Week begins virtually

MANAMA: The seventh edition of the Manama Entrepreneurship Week kicked off last night, under the theme ‘Rebuilding More Sustainable Equitable Post-Covid Economies’. The week-long event, which runs until October 26, opened with virtual remarks from the Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa. Throughout the week, more than 70 speakers will take part in 50 sessions, likely to attract 7,000 attendees globally. The first virtual session last night, entitled ‘Global Economies Beyond Covid-19’, featured UN Habitat Country programme head Fernanda Lonardoni and UN Industrial Development Organisation Investment and Technology Promotion Office Bahrain investment promotion expert, Afif Barhoumi. Other speakers during the opening ceremony included Juan Llanos, one of the first TEDx speakers on Bitcoin, who chaired a session entitled ‘Blockchain, Crypto and the Dawn of a New Age of Creativity’, and Hope Ventures general manager Fajer Al Pachachi who spoke about ‘Championing Bahraini Entrepreneurship’.
