Centamin says gold reserves rise by 1.3mln ounces in Egypt’s Sukari mine

UK-listed gold mining company Centamin said gold reserves in its Sukari mine in Egypt have risen by about 1.3 million ounces.

This is the largest increase in the reserves in a decade, the company said in a statement.

The new reserves will add 13 percent to the proven and probable mine reserves, which reached 11.11 million ounces at the end of June 2022.

The Sukari mine has produced more than five million ounces of gold since 2009. The mine has an expected life of 14 years.

Centamin plans to drill 280,000 metres underground in the Sukari concession area next year, the statement said.
