Egypt, Greece, European Investment Bank presidents discuss Euro-Africa interconnector, COP27 – Egypt Today

CAIRO – 3 March 2021: The Euro-Africa interconnector and COP27 conference on climate change were the main topics discussed by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the president of the European Investment Bank in a Thursday video call. Sisi and discussed cooperation in the energy sector, including the joint electricity interconnection bilaterally and trilaterally with Cyprus, as well in the framework of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union, according to an Egyptian presidential statement. The discussion also tackled natural gas, climate change action, green transformation, green hydrogen, and solar power as Egypt prepares for hosting COP27 in November. Sisi said Egypt will adopt a comprehensive approach in COP27, putting the priorities of all parties into consideration to come up with positive results in favor of international climate action with all its components. He expressed his confidence that Egypt will lead COP27 successfully. The Egyptian president praised the ties with Greece and the developing joint cooperation at all levels, as well as the political coordination between the two countries on issues of mutual interest. The meeting was also attended by the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, the ministers of electricity, foreign affairs,
