CAIRO – 11 May 2024: The Egyptian Ministry of Endowments issued a decision prohibiting the practice of photographing funerals during prayers or while entering or leaving the mosque.

Such actions are deemed as transgressions against the sanctity of the mosque and the dignity of the deceased, the Ministry said.

The decision emphasizes the importance of respecting the sanctity of the mosque, the dignity of the deceased, and the feelings of their family members.

The decision was issued after some journalists tried to take photos for the funeral the late Egyptian actor Salah Al Saadny despite his family’s wishes and warnings. Similarly, actor Karim Abel Azizi wrote a warning against taking any photos for the funeral of his mother and banned the media coverage of the funeral.
