MERA wins top spot in Quran competition in Egypt

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) claimed the first place in the International Holy Quran Competition held in EgyptMuscat – The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) claimed the first place in the International Holy Quran Competition held in Egypt.

In a statement, MERA said, ‘Oman’s Al Hafiz Abdullah bin Saeed al Hakamani won first place in the 30th International Holy Quran Competition held in the Arab Republic of Egypt.’

The contest involved memorising the entire Holy Quran along with its intonations and interpretations. It included six categories and the total number of contestants exceeded 100 from 64 countries, with judges from nine countries, including Oman.

MERA has qualification programmes for contestants to participate in global competitions – including the one in Egypt – with the aim of providing good training and preparations for Omani participants. 

MERA’s participation in international competitions of the Holy Quran – to compete and judge – are prioritised in order to serve the Holy Quran and to encourage Omani youth to participate in international competitions and raise the sultanate’s flag. MERA wins top spot in Quran competition in Egypt
