New Administrative Capital employees to be provided with apartments: official

About 40,000 employees will be transferred to Egypt's New Administrative Capital and provided with apartments, Cabinet spokesperson Nader Saad said.

He added on Wednesday during a phone conversation with Lamis Hadidi on her show "On My Responsibility“ that an allowance will be given to these employees to buy apartments in neighboring Badr City.

Any employee who does not wish to move will receive a transportation allowance, he said, explaining that the relocation allowance will be provided in cash, at about LE2,000 per month for non-manager employee.

Saad said the housing offered in Badr city are middle class housing units with an area of “‹“‹118 square meters. They cost the Ministry of Housing LE675,000.

He pointed out that employees will be exempted from the price of land and utilities estimated at LE225,000, bringing the unit price down to LE450,000.

Employees will pay just 25 percent of the price of the home in quarterly installments over seven years, following a down payment of LE110,000.

Saad said that the move to the Administrative Capital represents a quantum leap, but reassured citizens, saying, "You will not have to go to the new administrative capital to receive government service,“ indicating that many government services will be digitized as part of the move.
