Jordan witnesses heavy rainfall, northern regions most affected – Roya News English

Over the past 48 hours, Jordan experienced heavy rainfall, with the northern regions bearing the brunt of the downpour. The Ras Munif meteorological station recorded an impressive 100.1 mm of rainfall, marking 17 percent of its general seasonal average.

Director of the Meteorological Department, Raed Al Khattab, highlighted that the northern areas, including the northern Jordan Valley, were particularly affected. This was attributed to an air depression that swept through the region on Friday.

The Ras Munif meteorological station emerged as the top recorder of rainfall during this period, documenting the highest total in the northern regions. The recorded 100.1 mm represents 17 percent of its general seasonal average.

Other notable rainfall records were observed at the Sama meteorological station, registering 94.7 mm (21 percent of its general seasonal average), and the Irbid monitoring station, with 83.0 mm (19 percent of its general seasonal average).

In the northern Jordan Valley, the Al-Baqoura monitoring station documented a significant total rainfall of 79.0 mm, constituting 21 percent of its general seasonal average, according to Al Khattab.

While the central regions experienced less rainfall, the Al-Hussein Public Parks meteorological station in Amman recorded 55.5 mm (11 percent of its general seasonal average). The University of Jordan monitoring station
