Kuwait urges citizens to return from Europe due to omicron

Several Kuwaiti embassies in Europe urged Kuwaiti citizens to return home last night due to the omicron variant of COVID-19.

Kuwait’s embassies in Germany, Italy and Spain advised Kuwaitis to return home due to rising cases of COVID-19 and the threat of lockdowns and travel measures in the countries, the official Kuwait News Agency reported.

Spain and Italy are both averaging more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases per million people a day, a substantial increase from the hundreds a day per million people in early December. Germany is averaging around 300 cases per million people a day, down from its historic high of nearly 700 cases per million people in November, according to Our World in Data.
