MSX index ends lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,793.73 points, down by 1.29 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.45 per cent at 490.98 points.

Raysut Cement, up 4.32 per cent, was the top gainer while Sohar International Bank, down 3.81 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Muscat Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 454 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.19 million, with more than 9.76 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 7 advanced, 22 declined, and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR176,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR150,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR26,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,764.73 points, down 1.29 per cent. Prices of Oman United Insurance and Muscat Finance were up by 2.65 per cent and 1.52 per cent respectively. Prices of Sohar International Bank, Al Sharqia Investment, Bank Dhofar, Bank Nizwa, and Global Financial Investments were down by 4.32 per cent, 3.80 per cent, 2.86
