MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4, 058. 49 points, up 0. 01 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0. 41 per cent at 593. 19 points. Dhofar Insurance, up 9. 38 per cent, was the top gainer while Gulf International Chemical, down 3. 57 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Madina Takaful were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover. A total number of 1, 511 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR5 million, with more than 40. 6 million shares changing hands. Out of 63 traded stocks, 24 advanced, 11 declined and 2, 825 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR155, 000 while Local investors were net buyers for OMR135, 000 followed by foreign investors for OMR20, 000 worth of shares. Financial Index closed at 6, 473. 11 points, up 0. 42 per cent. Dhofar Insurance, Vision Insurance, Arabia Falcon Insurance, Muscat Finance and Investment Holding were up 9. 38 per cent, 6. 98 per cent, 6. 90 per cent, and 3. 17 per cent respectively.
