The Municipal departments in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate recently launched a series of comprehensive inspection campaigns.

Throughout these proactive inspections, municipal authorities intensified their scrutiny, meticulously evaluating over 1,000 food establishments spanning various sectors, including food stores, restaurants, cafes, and commercial centres. Regrettably, inspection teams unearthed numerous violations and breaches of food-related regulations, prompting swift action.

13 food establishments faced immediate closure, with 166 health violations issued for non-compliance with essential health standards. Three establishments received warnings, underscoring the stringent enforcement of regulatory requirements.

To mitigate potential health risks posed by unfit food supplies, authorities took decisive action, disposing of 176 kilograms of compromised food items and eliminating 541 unsuitable utensils. These measures were imperative due to the failure of establishments to adhere to prescribed health guidelines, resulting in the spoilage or contamination of stored food supplies.
