Season’s first charter flights arrive in Dhofar



Muscat – Dhofar received European tourist groups following the arrival of the first charter flights for the winter tourism season from the Czech Republic and Slovakia at Salalah Airport.

Marwan Abdul Hakim al Ghassani, Director of Tourism Promotion Department at the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar, informed said that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in cooperation with partners in the tourism sector, is working to attract more charter flights and cruise ships from European countries.

Ghassani added that the onset of the winter season in Dhofar signals the return of tourism activities, which motivates owners of hotels, camps and all tourism and related service providers to present events, activities and offers with the aim of attracting more tourists and stimulating the economy.

According to Ghassani, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism will implement a number of diverse tourism events and activities and several targeted and attractive programmes for local and international tourism during the coming period.

These include the frankincense season in late November and the Empty Quarter Festival in the niyabat of Al Shisr in the wilayat of Thumrait.

“Dhofar is rich in many natural reserves, such as the Jabal Samhan Reserve, the Wadi Dawkah Reserve for
