State Council hosts media establishments to study draft law

MUSCAT: The State Council, represented by the Social and Cultural Committee, hosted representatives of media establishments, civil authorities and media professionals to exchange views with them about the freedom of expression and the draft version of the new media law. The meeting looked into the provisions of the draft media law and the extent to which it maintains balance between rights, obligations and penalties. The participants studied how the statute-to-be would serve the media industry in Oman and influence the country’s global rating in the future. — ONA
