The Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs continues its Ramadan programmes. The activities, according to a statement from Awqaf, were launched at the beginning of Ramadan and they include religious discourses and Ramadan forum for Muslim communities.Under the Ramadan Forum to introduce Islam, an introductory event about the holy month was held at the Cuban Hospital in co-operation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). This was in the presence of 25 hospital staff. The participants expressed their desire to hold a monthly meeting for extensive dialogue on aspects of Islamic and Qatari culture.Fanar continues its Iftar activities for reverts at its branches in the Industrial Area and Al-Khor. The activities are attended by hundreds every day from different communities. They include preaching sessions and interaction sessions to answer fasting questions.As part of the activities of the Ramadan Forum for non-Arabic speaking Muslim communities, Fanar organised lectures for Bengali, Urdu and Malabar communities with an attendance of about 3,000 participants.The Filipino Muslim community also organised a ceremony for the Holy Qur’an competition for children for the first time.
