QE Index surges to 7-year high – The Peninsula

Doha: Shares in Qatar Stock Exchange continued their rising spree with QE Index reaching seven-year high yesterday. The QE Index soared 323.65 points, or 2.50 percent, to close at 13,272.40 points - highest level over the last seven years. It was the second day of high gains for the local bourse. The QE Index has risen 612 points in the past two trading sessions. The benchmark index had surged nearly 300 points Monday.

Investment Holding Group, Qatar Cinema & Film Distributing and QNB were the top gainers in yesterday’s trade rising 10 percent, 9 percent and 7 percent, respectively. Qatar National Cement, Qatar Gas Transport and Vodafone Qatar were among the top losers.

The volume of shares traded decreased to 441.5 million from 502.25 million on Monday while the value of shares increased to QR1.55bn from QR1.72bn on Monday. The indices of six sectors ended in green zone and one sector ended in red zone today. QSE Total Return Index gained 2.26 percent 26,584.02, QSE Al Rayan Islamic index increased 1.56 percent to 5,364.16 points and QSE All Share Index added 2.92 percent 4,211.95 points.
