SPARK and Qatar Fund for Development are supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and Home-Based businesses (HBBs) in Turkey and Jordan to help sustain jobs, grow businesses and recover from the economic destruction of COVID-19.

The four-year programme directly supports smaller companies and startups, particularly those founded by refugees, as these are the businesses worst affected by the impact of lockdowns, travel restrictions and supply chain issues resulting from COVID-19. The programme helps businesses to digitise and repurpose products and services to new customers and markets. By safeguarding jobs and scaling up businesses to hire more people, the programme improves employment opportunities for vulnerable people, including Syrian refugees and women, in Turkey and Jordan.

By working with local partner organisations in each country, SPARK and Qatar Fund for Development provides four pillars of support:
Small financial grants and tailored coaching on digitalisation, where help businesses transition to digital, business operations, finance, and human resource management adjustments;
A comprehensive approach to help MSMEs and HBBs obtain the training and support needed to scale up and create new job opportunities;
Bootcamps, startup competitions and seed funding for entrepreneurship ideas.
Matching job seekers and graduates to internships and job placements within private sector companies.
