Saudi’s flynas to launch direct flights between AlUla and Cairo

Saudi carrier flynas has announced the launch of its first direct flights between AlUla and the Egyptian capital, Cairo, starting Thursday, October 6, 2022. Flynas will connect Saudi’s historical city and Cairo via two weekly direct flights, scheduled on Saturdays and Thursdays, from AlUla International Airport to Cairo International Airport. Tickets can be booked on the carrier’s website, via its app or through travel agents. AlUla, located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia, is known for its historical and geographical significance, and is full of archaeological relics from the Dadanite, Nabataean, Roman and old Islamic civilisations. The city is also home to the kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra – the Nabataean site with 110 tombs carved in the sandstone rocks, a statement said. Last year, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched a masterplan to sustainably develop the historical area of AlUla. The plan will be implemented in three phases until 2035, with the first phase set to be completed by 2023. Upon completion in 2035, the Royal Commission aims to create 38,000 new jobs, with AlUla contributing SAR120bn to the kingdom’s GDP.
