“We are looking forward to operating scheduled freighter flights to three additional cities in India,” Emirates SkyCargo’s divisional senior vice president Nabil Sultan told The Hindu Business Line, an Indian financial news daily.

The three destinations were not disclosed.

The airline’s cargo business in India is witnessing a strong uptick due to significant new investments in the manufacturing sector, especially in mobile phones, electronics and consumer goods, he added. 

The comprehensive economic partnership agreement (Cepa) between India and UAE has given its business a further boost. 

India is among the top five markets for Emirates cargo business, accounting for around eight percent of its overall freight volume, the report said. The airline flew over 1.8 million tonnes of cargo between January and December 2023 registering over seven percent year on year
