India and Kuwait look at important bilateral relations

As part of enhanced high level political exchanges between India and Kuwait the External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar, had a telephone conversation with Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, State of Kuwait, on Dec 27, according to a press release issued by the Embassy of India in Kuwait. During the telecon, both sides touched upon important areas of bilateral relations and exchanged views on the regional and global developments of mutual interest.

Incidentally, both Foreign Ministers had previously served as ambassadors of their respective countries to the United States. Dr Jaishankar fondly recalled his offi- cial visit to Kuwait from June 9-11, 2021 wherein he called on Prime Minister of Kuwait and delivered a letter from the Prime Minister of India addressed to HH the Amir of Kuwait.

The official visit culminated with signing of several MoUs including MoU on ‘Cooperation in the Recruitment of Domestic Workers’. The Foreign Minister of Kuwait had earlier paid an official visit to India in March 2021. EAM and Foreign Minister of Kuwait also met in Tehran on August 5, 2021 on the sidelines of their visit to Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian president. Both the countries
