ICAI Doha Chapter hosts conference on ‘Embracing AI-Future Finance Catalyst’

The panel of experts during ICAI Doha Chapter's ninth annual conference titled ‘Embracing AI-Future Finance Catalyst’.

The Doha Chapter of ICAI has organised its ninth annual conference titled ‘Embracing AI-Future Finance Catalyst’ held recently in Doha.

The conference included the following panel of experts who shared insights on the influential role of generative AI in the field of finance: Suresh Prabhu, founding chancellor of Rishihood University and former union cabinet minister; Aniket Sunil Talati, president of ICAI, and Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, vice-president of ICAI.

In his opening remarks, Prabhu shed light on the role of artificial intelligence as a catalyst for finance professionals and its future significance, while Talati emphasised how ICAI has embraced technology, including AI, to streamline processes, citing how the results for chartered accountants are now being declared within two weeks instead of two months.

Talati also stressed ICAI’s focus on transforming its global presence by customising courses based on the rules and regulations of different countries, thereby creating a community of global chartered accountants.

For his part, Agarwal discussed the socio-economic and technological impact on the accounting profession. He envisioned India’s economy reaching $40tn by 2047, which is ICAI’s centenary celebration and emphasised the need to produce 4mn chartered accountants in
