Qatar attends meeting of Group of 77 ministers

Qatar participated in the 46th annual meeting of foreign ministers of the member states of the Group of 77 and China, chaired by Pakistan, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Qatar was represented at the meeting by HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi.

In the statement to the meeting, HE al-Muraikhi stressed that Qatar will always work within the principles of solidarity and multilateral action, and will continue to adhere to the goals and priorities of the Group of 77 and China, in a way that serves the common interest of the group and achieves its goals.

He affirmed Qatar's keenness, as an active member of the group, in realising the latter's aspirations, as Qatar recognises the importance of multilateral co-operation, and commitment to values based on the principles of solidarity and partnership.

He said that Qatar had taken many steps that confirm its commitment to strengthening co-operation and co-ordination, noting that it hosted the second South Summit in 2005, which reflects its political will to consolidate this co-operation and unify efforts to achieve common goals, expressing Qatar's aspiration to participate in the third South
