Qatar Central Bank’s foreign currency reserves rise to QR213.532bn – The Peninsula

Doha: The international reserves and foreign currency liquidity of Qatar Central Bank increased by 2.010 percent to reach QR213.532bn last August, compared to QR209.323bn in the corresponding month of 2021.

The figures issued by Qatar Central Bank today indicated that the official reserves of Qatar Central Bank increased by the end of August of this year than they were at the end of August 2021 by about QR3.179bn to reach QR155.937bn, driven by the increase in the central banks balances of bonds and foreign treasury bills by about QR14.819bn to a level of QR116.237bn in August 2022.

Official reserves consist of four main components: foreign bonds and treasury bills, cash balances with foreign banks, gold holdings, special drawing rights deposits, and Qatar’s share in the International Monetary Fund.

In addition to the official reserves, other liquid assets (in foreign currency deposits) so that the two together constitute what is known as “total international reserves”.

On the other hand, the balance of special drawing rights deposits from the State of Qatar’s share in the International Monetary Fund decreased by the end of August 2022 by QR482m compared to August 2021, to reach the level of QR5.134bn.
