Abu Dhabi-based NWTN says electric vehicle facility in KEZAD gets ISO certifications

Dubai-headquartered NWTN on Tuesday announced that its first electric vehicle (EV) assembly facility in the Khalifa Economic Zone Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) was successfully accredited with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 - Integrated Management System (IMS).

The ISO certifications reflect a commitment to high standards of quality, environmental, and safety management, the company said in a statement.

NWTN said the accreditation will assist its KEZAD facility in continually improving the quality of its products and services.

NWTN, the first UAE-based EV company listed on the Nasdaq stock market, completed construction of its 270,000 square feet facility in KEZAD at the end of 2022.

The facility received commercial and industrial licences in February 2023.

Currently, the production line is nearly complete, with NWTN working with BASF, the chemical company, for paint surface refinishing and manufacturing safety training, the statement noted.

Separately, NWTN delivered 10 range-extended electric vehicles (R-EEV) in the past week.

The company said that the vehicle's range-extended technology is designed to overcome the problems of limited charging facilities in the UAE and long-distance travel in the country.

In February, Zawya Projects had reported that NWTN commenced trial operations at the KEZAD plant.
