Bahrain to lift Covid-19 curbs despite high cases

Dubai, 13 February (Argus) — Bahrain has announced it will lift its current Covid-19-related restrictions on movement and public gathers on 15 February, despite the country still facing near record high daily Covid-19 cases.

Bahrain will transition to the ‘green' level of restrictions on Tuesday, the government said, lifting all restrictions for both vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals. This will allow for 100pc capacity at workplaces and other indoor locations including malls, restaurants, cafes, retail shops and event and conference halls. Prayer services at mosques and other places of worship will also be resumed at full capacity, without a requirement for social distancing. Wearing a face mask in public indoor locations, however, will remain mandatory.

This decision to lift these measures for the first time in close to two months is likely to give a boost to transport fuel demand in the country.
