In his announcement on Monday 21 February, Boris Johnson released information around the new strategy for living with Covid in England - including the eventual scrapping of the NHS Covid Pass. As of April 1, the current guidance on providing your COVID-status certification in domestic settings - such as nightclubs - will no longer be recommended by the government. The introduction of mandatory coronavirus vaccine passes for some events in England came into force, after "Plan B" was activated on December 8 2021, due to the spread of the omicron variant . As of Dec. 15, the NHS Covid Pass on the NHS App became mandatory for entry into nightclubs and settings where large crowds gather. The smartphone passes, which show whether a person has had a vaccine or a recent negative test, had already been used for entry into some large events and in overseas travel since vaccines have been widely available. MPs voted 369 to 126, with a majority 243, to approve their mandatory use. It was only this year that Sajid Javid informed the Commons that "once all adults have had a reasonable chance to get their booster jab" , the Covid pass will require three doses
