The National Medical Taskforce calls on eligible individuals to receive a COVID-19 booster shot

The National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) reiterated their call for all eligible individuals to receive an additional booster shot every nine months to strengthen their immunity against variants of COVID-19 and protect public health. The Taskforce indicated that vaccinated individuals aged 12 years and above are eligible to receive an additional booster shot every nine months. Individuals with a prior infection are eligible for a booster so long as nine months have elapsed since their last dose and at least six months have elapsed since the date of their infection. The following vaccines are available to those who are eligible: • Pfizer-BioNTech • Valneva (aged 18+ years) • Sinopharm (if Sinopharm was received as the primary series) The Taskforce emphasised the importance of voluntarily wearing a mask both indoors and outdoors in accordance with precautionary guidelines. The Taskforce concluded by stressing the importance of wearing masks when visiting health facilities and interacting with vulnerable, at-risk individuals.
