Egypt reports 883 new coronavirus infections in 24 hrs

CAIRO - 19 October 2021: The Health Ministry said Monday night that 883 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of infections since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country to 319,339. In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Dr Khaled Megahed said 45 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 18,015. As many as 639 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 269,482, the spokesman added. Egypt’s Cabinet spokesperson Nader Saad said that the government is about to launch new application to verify receiving the two doses of coronavirus vaccine without the need to have the certificate. He added in television statements that there are three different ways to prove receiving covid-19 vaccine; the first is to have the vaccination card, the second is to register online after receiving the two doses and get a verification certificate that the citizen received the doses according to the procedures.
